Cob is an ancient technique of building monolithic
walls using mixed moist earth and straw. Cob can be used to create almost
any shape. It requires few tools and is accessible to builders of many
skill levels and physical abilities. Cob has wonderful sculptural qualities;
Windows can be cobbed into place, and niches and reliefs are easy to create.
Cured cob is exceptionally strong, and provides any structure with a good
source of thermal mass.
Vital Systems can mix cob for delivery to your construction site in Northern California. Our cob is sold by the yard (27 ft3) for $200 per yard. The minimum order is 3 yards. Please allow a week of lead time. Delivery is $70 per hour each way from Ukiah, California.

Suitable for both interior and exterior application,
earthen plasters are breathable, soft to the touch, nontoxic and beautiful.
Less brittle than cement-based plasters, mud plasters stick to and move
with the underlying wall, resulting in fewer cracks.
Vital Systems can mix custom earthen plaster for your application. We can produce a range of earth-tone colors and finishes. We can also make custom exterior plaster mixes hardened with linseed oil, nopal cactus juice or lime. Our plaster is sold by the yard (27 ft3) for $250 per yard. The minimum order is 3 yards. Alis is a traditional finish from the Southwest originally
used to finish adobe interiors. Vital Systems Caliz is available in a range of colors. Both a smooth and a textured finish are available. Each gallon will cover up to 40 ft2, depending on surface porosity and application style. Our Caliz is sold in 5 gallon buckets. You may schedule a pickup from Vital Systems on Mondays between 8 am and 5 pm, or it can be shipped directly to you. |

Vital Systems can build trusses for a variety of applications. Vital Systems carries Bonded Logic's UltraTouch recycled cotton insulation. This insulation is made from post-industrial denim and cotton fibers, and makes an extremely effective sound barrier with excellent thermal performance. This insulation does not itch, making for a pleasant installation process. UltraTouch is available in three R values and two widths for insulating standard stud frames. You mayschedule a pick up from Vital Systems on Mondays between 8 AM and 5 PM. Delivery is $70 per hour each way from Ukiah, California. There will be a $50 handling fee for any order under $500. |
